One of New England's most well-known and loved Greek entertainers, Costas Kamanis launched his professional music career in Greece at age 15 singing and playing the oud. He served in the Greek army during World War II and later journeyed to the United States in 1948, settling in Boston. His love of music made him a renowned performer, and he played and sang at thousands of supper clubs and functions throughout the country. Mr. Kamanis served as an inspiration to many of today's great performers and was known as a true musician's musician. Upon his death at the age of 80, family members said of him, "His purpose in life was always to share his love of music, which in turn, fulfilled his heart and made his life complete.
