Nina Gatzoulis



Nina Gatzoulis is Adjunct Professor of Modern Greek at the University of New Hampshire and Director of the Modern Greek Studies Program. She is a professional educator with extensive experience at all instructional levels. The Modern Greek Program at the University of New Hampshire, which she developed and has continued to direct, offers four years of Modern Greek language with a possibility of a major in Greek studies.

She has translated and contributed a number of articles to HCS, among them: "Bitter Laughter, A Review by Nina Gatzoulis," "A Portrait of Dionysios Solomos and Two of His Poems," "An Unforgettable Story of Survival. A Review of Thea Halo’s Book, Not Even My Name," translated two book reviews by noted poet and critic, Dino Siotis,
"Children of Paradise, by Edmund Keeley," and "Greece and the New Balkans, edited by Van Coufoudakis, Harry J. Psomiades, and Andre Gerolymatos," and also written "Struggle of the Greek Language." Another HCS article, "University of New Hampshire Moves Towards Four-Year Program in Modern Greek," describes the program directed by Prof. Gatzoulis.

She also is active in professional, community, and fraternal organizations, serving as the treasurer for Paideia of New Hampshire, Inc., as the secretary of the Pentalofos Society and as the Supreme Secretary of the Pan-Macedonian Association, USA. She is a member of the Daughters of Penelope, having served as secretary and president of Itona Chapter #177 of Dover, New Hampshire, and is on the Board of the Alkistis Society of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Dover.
