Archdiocese National Oratorial Festival Scheduled
4-6 June 2010 in NYC

(NEW YORK)--The Archdiocese Oratorical Festival will once again return to New York City where the first one was held in 1984. This time the event will take place at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manhattan.

The Oratorical Festival has become one of the most challenging and inspiring program that our Greek Orthodox Archdiocese offers its youth. It encourages them to research a topic, to write about it and to deliver their homily to the congregation. Each time they participate, they are learning the basic skills of public speaking, as well as inspiring all those who hear them. Many of the past participants have expressed how the program meant so much to them in their growth and development.

Church Hierarchs and members of the Archdiocese staff encourage youths to attend an Oratorical Festival; many parish, district and metropolis Oratorical Festivals are being held during these weeks of Great Lent and after Pascha. Only two finalists from each metropolis will advance to the Archdiocese Oratorical Festival in New York City, but that does not mean that each and every participant at every parish Oratorical Festival has not met with success. Just having participated in the Oratorical Festival is a wonderful accomplishment and deserves praise.
