Announcement for Position Director, Office of Vocation and Ministry

Hellenic College is seeking to fill the position of Director of the "We Offer These Gifts" program, a five-year program funded through the Lilly Endowment's "Theological Exploration of Vocation" initiative, to begin responsibilities in July 2003. This person will be responsible for the Office of Vocation and Ministry and will create vocational assessment programs for Hellenic College undergraduates, a summer institute for high school students, and offer opportunities for faculty and administration to reflect on and develop their vocations through seminars and grants. In addition to responsibilities related to the grant, the successful candidate will be concerned with fostering dialogue related to a theology of vocation for the larger American Orthodox community.

    Qualifications for the positions include:
  • A Master's degree in theology or a related field with a thorough knowledge of Orthodox Christian theology, spirituality, and ecclesiology;
  • A terminal degree (Ph.D., Th.D., D.Min.) and teaching experience in a college environment preferred;
  • A demonstrated ability to manage a complex program, organize retreats and workshops, keep records of programs and evaluate and revise plans as needed;
  • An understanding and appreciation of the theological concept of calling or vocation within the Christian tradition and in present-day social contexts.
Hellenic College is the only accredited, four-year Orthodox Christian college in America. It shares its campus with Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. Deadline for application is March 1. Interested candidates should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae and three letters of reference to:
