Maria Katina Lampadarios Marries Radoil Tzvetanov Mitov in Baltimore, MD

On Saturday, May 26, 2007, Maria Katina "Katie" Lampadarios and Radoil "Radi" Tzvetanov Mitov were married at Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore, Maryland by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Constantine Moralis. The bride is the daughter of George and Jasmine Netos Lampadarios of Glen Arm, MD. The groom is the son of Mrs. Zlatka Tzekova of Bulgaria. Mrs. Mitov was given in marriage by both her parents and by her koumbara, Marina Caminis. The couple's best man, or koumbaro, was Krassimir Genov. Bridesmaid was Amy Sue Miller, Usher, Ivan Stantchev, Crown Bearer, George Carayannopoulos, Flower Girl, Sophia Carayannopoulos, Ring Bearer, T. Antonakis Ruben Kane, Organist, Georgia Tangires, Chanter, Stephanos Niktas. Decorations and flowers were arranged by Irene Tsatsos.


Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotel in downtown Baltimore.

The bride graduated in 2000 from Bowdoin College in Maine and, after earning a Master's Degree, teaches. 


Estelle Zagaris and Evangelos Valsamis Wed at St. George Cathedral in Manchester, NH

Estelle Helen Zagaris of Lebanon, NH and Evangelos Nicholas Valsamis of Haverhill, MA were married on Sunday, July 5, 2003 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester, New Hampshire by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston. The bride is the daughter of Varnavas and Laurie Zagaris of Lebanon, NH. The groom is the son of Nicholas and Koula Valsamis of Haverhill, MA. Mrs. Valsamis was given in marriage by her father and attended by her koumbara, Melani Zagaris, her sister. The koumbaro or best man was the brother of the groom, Michael Valsamis, of Haverhill, MA.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at C. R. Sparks in Bedford, New Hampshire.

After a two-week honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple plan to live in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

The bride graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, New Hampshire and Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts with a B.A. in International Relations and from Boston University with a M.A.T. Currently she is employed as a teacher of history at Lexington High School in Lexington, MA.

The groom graduated from Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts and Hellenic College Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. He is employed as the Activities Director at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Greek and Academic Communities Mourn Loss of Professor Helen Karanikas

The first to be named a Distinguished Professor by the City Colleges of Chicago, Helen Karanikas taught courses in Humanities for over 40 years at Wright. She earned a Masters Degree in English from the University of Chicago. 

Professor Karanikas died on Monday, the 10th of January, 2005. Read complete story.

Lukas Elias Demos Baptized in Manchester, New Hampshire

The youngest addition to the Demos family of Manchester was baptized on Sunday, May 27, 2008 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral--Lukas Elias Demos. He is the son of Elias and Alexndra Gatzoulis Demos, and the grandson of Bill and Nina Gatzoulis of Dover, New Hampshire, and Mr. & Mrs. George Demos of Manchester. Godparents were Gregg and Athanasia Smith. Following the sacrament, a reception was held at C. R. Sparks in Manchester with live music provided by the Hellenic Ensemble and full catered dinner. Na ekatostisi to paidi!


Read and Galaktidis Families Celebrate Baptism of Franchesca Read in Australia

On February 4, 2006 Brendan and Vickie Read of Canberra, Australia celebrated the christening of their daughter, Franchesca, with their parents, Brian and Helen Read and Kosta and Koula Galaktidis, also of Canberra. Godfather Justin Lalor and Godmother Vicky Faes baptised Franchesca at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Kingston, Canberra, with Fr. George officiating. Hundreds Attend Surprise 70th Birthday Celebration for Rhoda Chrysovergis Conley

On Saturday, January 3, 2004, hundreds of friends, relatives, and coworkers of Rhoda Conley filled Drivas Hall of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco, Maine at the invitation of Daniel Conley, her son, and Mary Papoutsy, her niece. The festively decorated hall resounded with cries of "Surprise!" and melodic strains of "Happy Birthday!" and "Chronia Polla!" as a stunned guest of honor arrived. Read complete story.



A Christening for Janet Rose Geomelos

On April 29, 2001 at 2:00 p.m., godparents Gail M. Adamopoulos and Leonard P. Geomelos baptized Janet Rose, the daughter of Michael and Catherine Geomelos, at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, Massachusetts. She is the grandchild of Danny and Janet Katsarakes and Peter and Tessie Geomelos, and the great-granddaughter of Michael Orgettas, all of Peabody. Father Andrew Demotses, parish priest of St. Vasilios, officiated.

Haralambos Psilos Baptized

Christos and Cornelia Psilos of Middletown, Rhode Island celebrated the baptism of their son Halambros in a ceremony held October 28th, 2001 at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport, Rhode Island. Halambros was baptized by godparents John and Joanne Psilos.  The officiating priest was Father Anthony Evangelatos.

St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church Announces Christenings

St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox
Church in Wollaston MA joyfully announces the baptisms of Vanessa-Anastasia, daughter of Christina and Frank Kehayias, and of Marina-Alexia, daughter of Theodora and Stavros Retzos. Both ceremonies were held on October 21, 2001.

Dmitri K. Koustas Receives National Honor

Dmitri K. Koustas from Tyngsboro, Massachusetts and a student at Tyngsboro High School has recently been selected for membership in The National Honor Society of High School Scholars. The Society invites only those students who have superior academic achievment and are among the top scholars in the nation. The announcement was made by NSHSS Honorary Chair Claes Nobel, a senior member of the Nobel Prize Family.
